History
1948
The Karaganda Regional Institute for Advanced Training of Teachers was established
1993
The first regional scientific and practical conference titled “Psychological Issues of Learner-Centered Pedagogy” was held
1994
A departmental (chair-based) system was introduced. Departments of Teaching Methodology for Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and for Humanities Subjects were established
1997
A Scientific and Methodological Center was opened. It included the Department for Coordination and Development of Experimental Educational Work, the Educational and Methodological Department, the Informatization Department, the Information and Publishing Department, the Department for Work with Gifted Children, and the Monitoring Department
1998
Branches of the Institute were opened in the cities of Zhezkazgan and Balkhash
2000
The Institute for Advanced Training was renamed the Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Civil Servants and Education Workers under the Akim of the Region
2001
A Department of Public Administration was established at the Institute
2004
An educational program for social pedagogues was developed. Cooperation with methodological offices and centers was organized to ensure effective management of socio-psychological services
2006
A professional development program titled “Learner-Centered Retraining and Advanced Training of Subject Teachers” was developed. The program included new modules: “Teacher Portfolio,” “Distance Learning,” “Assessment of Participants’ Professional Competency Levels,” and “Course Reflection.”
2007
A three-level professional development model for school principals was implemented for the first time. It replaced the previously used two-level model and targeted newly appointed principals, as well as the improvement of administrative and managerial culture
2008
A regional scientific and practical conference for preschool educators titled “The Standard as a Tool for Self-Realization of a New-Generation Teacher” was held. A regional seminar on developing a model of continuous comprehensive rehabilitation for children with disabilities was also conducted
2012
The Institute was reorganized into a branch of the Joint Stock Company “National Center for Advanced Training ‘Orleu’.” It became the Institute for Advanced Training of Pedagogical Workers of Karagandy Region
