History
April 1, 1951
Based on Order No. 21 of the Akmolinsk Regional Department of Public Education dated March 31, 1951, and in execution of the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR, the regional methodological office in the city of Akmolinsk was reorganized into the Regional Institute for the Improvement of Teachers
December 1960 – April 1961
In connection with the temporary reorganization of Akmola Region (during the period of the formation of the Tselinny Krai), the Akmola Regional Institute for the Improvement of Teachers was reorganized, and its functions were transferred to the Territorial Institute for the Improvement of Teachers
April 24, 1961 – 1994
On the territory of the former Akmola Region, Tselinograd Region was established. The Tselinograd Institute for the Improvement of Teachers began its activities with its former functions. In 1994, the Institute became one of the first centers for the implementation of computer-based learning technologies in the CIS. In 1987, the Institute was awarded the rotating Red Banner following the results of the All-Union Socialist Competition. In 1991, the Institute’s experience was exhibited at the VDNKh of the USSR and was awarded a Silver Medal
1996
By Order No. 206 of the Akmola Regional Department of Education dated November 22, 1996, the Akmola Regional Institute for the Improvement of Teachers was reorganized into the Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Teaching Staff
1998 – 1999
By Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 6, 1998, the city of Akmola was renamed Astana, and the regional center was relocated from Astana to Kokshetau. As a result, all regional structures and institutions, including the Akmola Regional Institute for Professional Development and Retraining of Teaching Staff, were relocated. The Institute continued its activities on the basis of the Kokshetau Regional Institute for the Improvement of Teachers
2001
The Institute was renamed the Regional Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Education Workers and Civil Servants. Branches of the Institute operated in Stepnogorsk, Shchuchinsk, and Astana
2005
The retraining of civil servants was removed from the Institute’s activities. The structure of the Institute was expanded to include a laboratory for issues of 12-year education, an office for work with gifted children, and an editorial and publishing office
2011
The structure of the Akmola Regional Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Education Workers included five departments: management; pedagogy and psychology; teaching methodologies for humanities and natural sciences; content and methodology of teaching subjects in schools with Kazakh as the language of instruction; primary education and preschool education. The Institute also included a vocational education office, an editorial and publishing department, a library, a laboratory for issues of 12-year education, a department for work with gifted children, and an information and methodological office. A branch of the Institute operated in Astana at the Eurasian Humanitarian Institute
2012
In connection with the modernization of the professional development system for teaching staff of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Institute was reorganized and acquired the status of a branch of the Joint Stock Company “National Center for Professional Development ‘Orleu’” – Institute for Advanced Training of Teaching Staff of Akmola Region
