Teaching children the fluent, conscious, expressive reading, and, most importantly, the upbringing of love to a book is one of the main goals of primary education. Reading literacy is the first step in forming functional ноliteracy.The article defines key directions for the formation of reading literacy in the teaching and learning process: reading and understanding various texts; working with information presented in various forms; using the information obtained in the text to solve various educational or life problems, etc. Techniques and tasks used at the Literary reading lessons in primary school to form reading literacy are considered.
