THE USE OF STEAM – LEARNING IN CHEMISTRY LESSONS
Abstract
STEAM is a new educational technology that combines several subject areas as a tool for developing critical thinking, research competencies, and teamwork skills. This methodology allows students to gain a holistic view of the studied world and demonstrates the conditionality of dividing science into separate disciplines. This article examines the application of STEAM education (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) in chemistry lessons. STEAM education represents an integrative approach that promotes the development of critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills in students. The article analyzes methods and strategies for implementing STEAM education in the school chemistry curriculum and provides examples of successful practices. Special attention is paid to interdisciplinary projects that allow students to apply chemical knowledge in real-life situations. The research results show that the use of STEAM methods contributes to increased interest in chemistry, improved academic performance, and the development of key 21st-century competencies. In conclusion, the article emphasizes the need for further development and support of STEAM initiatives in educational institutions to prepare students for the challenges of the modern world.
